At Afon Lime, we specialise in the conservation and restoration of traditional, pre-1919, and listed buildings across Swansea, Gower, and South Wales. Our work focuses on internal lime plastering, external lime rendering, and lime pointing, using natural breathable materials and traditional methods that allow historic buildings to breathe, move, and endure.

With over nine years of experience working exclusively with lime and traditional building methods, we have developed a strong understanding of how historic buildings behave and how they should be repaired. Early experience working alongside award-winning conservation companies and skilled craftspeople helped shape our approach today, one built on respect for historic fabric, time-tested methods, and close attention to detail. Lime work is a highly specialised craft, and we focus exclusively on traditional lime materials and methods.

We work with lime in all its forms, from traditional hot-mixed mortars and lime putty plasters to St Astier NHL renders and breathable insulating plasters such as hemp-lime. Where appropriate, we can also incorporate sympathetic thermal upgrades using breathable natural insulation materials including wood fibre boards, wood wool boards, and cork boards, helping improve comfort while maintaining the building’s natural breathability.

We use high-quality limes, aggregates, and carefully selected materials from trusted suppliers, ensuring durable finishes that protect historic masonry while preserving the character of the building. Lime mortars are mixed using professional equipment such as a Baron mixer, ensuring consistent, high-quality mixes while maintaining traditional application methods.
